Description:

1. The Catherine Wolfe Major of the Year award celebrates outstanding undergraduate students in the fields of health, physical education, recreation and dance.
2. Faculty advisors/professors are encouraged to nominate one outstanding student per major per college/university.
3. Majors of the Year receive a free INSHAPE membership renewal for one year and a full conference registration to the following year’s INSHAPE state conference. Award is presented at annual conference and awardees should be prepared for recognition at the event.
4. Majors of the Year represent their school on the INSHAPE Young Professionals council and are requested to volunteer at conference and/or regional workshops as able.
5. Candidates must be majoring in health, physical education, recreation, dance, or exercise science.
6. Faculty are encouraged to nominate INSHAPE Majors of the Year for the SHAPE America Major of the Year Award due in early January.

Eligibility – Nominees Must:

1. Be an INSHAPE member by the conference when it award is presented.
2. Be on track toward a degree in health, physical education, recreation, dance, or exercise science.
3. Be a junior or senior.
4. Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, on a 4.0 scale.
5. Provide a service to school or community (3-5 contributions) for a minimum of two years during undergraduate career.

Award Criteria:

1. participation in collegiate activities,
2. professional competencies,
3. potential as a professional,
4. grade point average,
5. financial need, and
6. recommendations.

Faculty advisors and/or professors may only nominate one student per major per college/university. Students cannot nominate themselves. Nominations due by October 15.
